DECEMBER 2020

NEW PAINTINGS

“Cardinal and Sunflowers” is new this month—it's an 8x10 acrylic painting on a wrapped canvas which eliminates the need for framing. This happy bird was a class project in my online class taught by Maggie Ruley. I’m having lots of fun with these brilliant acrylic colors! Cards and prints of this painting are available on my website.

“Geraniums in Green Pot” was painted on a November evening when I was craving a little summer in my life. I’m offering this small watercolor on my website as an unframed original. It’s 4 ” x 5 ” and painted on a background dyed with spinach juice. This will not be available in prints or cards because of its small size.

CURRENT PROJECTS

Taking up much of my time this past month was a commissioned Christmas card for Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. This was a pure delight to work on but I can’t show you yet—not until January after all 2000 families on their mailing list have received their card. This was a super exciting project to work on because the hotel is not open in the winter, so I just had to imagine it all lit up for the holidays!

I’m busy sending out my own Christmas cards in the next couple of weeks. It seems more important than ever this year to keep in touch with loved ones.

WEBSITE

My website, www.maryloupeters.com is now faster and easier than ever to navigate and place an order. I have many designs from which to choose for gift giving this year; prints, cards, original paintings, bookmarks and don’t forget a GIFT CARD for that hard-to-buy-for person on your list.

Order a gift card!

Just a reminder that if you would rather not order with a credit card, you may download, print, and fill out an order form, enclose a check, and send it to me at PO Box 855, Mackinaw City, MI 49701 or simply email me at marylou@maryloupeters.com or order by phone: 231-627-8069.

Because of the holiday rush complicated by COVID safeguards, USPS is now saying it can take up to two weeks for their packages to be delivered, so please order by December 10 to be sure to receive your order in time for Christmas. If you wish, I will send it to the recipient directly with a card acknowledging your gift. There is a place (NOTES) in the ordering information to let me know that when you place your order.

GIVING BACK

During the month of December, I will donate 10% of all proceeds from sales of my artwork and books to the food pantry that serves the area in which I live.

BOOKS

For your Christmas giving this year, why not give a meaningful souvenir of a well-loved place? “Mackinac Island Meditations” would be a perfect choice. Or do you have a gardener in your life? Then “Garden Meditations” would be a welcome gift. Each of these books features 32 pages of illustrated Bible verses, meditations, and prayers for your inspiration.

“Once again, your colorful paintings make my day! Very pretty, vibrant, and joyful!” These are the words of Marea Menovske from Elsie, Michigan commenting on one of my daily Facebook posts (either a brand new painting or a popular painting from the past). I sure do appreciate these words so typical of those from my followers on my page, Watercolor Paintings by Mary Lou Peters.

My Instagram account is fun—I am learning lots of new things as I learn to navigate through this land of hashtags. You can follow me at #maryloupeterspainter.
