The Mackinac College Catalogue 1966-67 describes Citizenship Service in this way:
"For thirty-two weeks of the year Mackinac College is the student's home. Everyone is expected to keep his or her room clean and attractive, although all rooms are thoroughly cleaned once a week. In addition, each student has a weekly responsibility for some phase of the general operation of the College. This work includes such duties as waiting on table, assisting in the kitchen, and caring for corridors, library and grounds."
